Now some unkind people might suggest that if you want to get to Fairfax all you need to do is follow your nose, but I'd suggest that you settle for Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.   From the East Bay take the Richmond - San Rafael Bridge (not its real name by the way, but all the locals call it that) and you'll automatically be travelling on the right road once you've made land and taken the first exit.  The other two approaches from the Interstate 101 are both signposted San Anselmo but don't worry about that too much.  Plod along this long high street from Larkspur Landing through Kentfield, Ross and San Anselmo.  Watch for the five-way junction - the second left is the route you want!  Eventually you arrive in Fairfax and you can't miss the cluster of delightful bars / restaurants / cafes on your left.  Cafe Amsterdam (great food, family friendly) and 19 Broadway (great bar, dance friendly) are just two of several establishments that all have music nearly every night of the week.
