The Prisoner of Zenda
The Prisoner of Zenda was published in May 1894 and this fourth work brought a lot of attention to Anthony Hope. This swashbuckling romance of courtly intrigue in Ruritania follows the adventures of the English gentleman Rudolf Rassendyll when he leaves behind his comfortable life in London. Later, it was the basis of a well-known 1930s movie starring Ronald Colman and Madeleine Carroll.
